Four-sided Record Design

We were recently approached by a design student at Middlesex University with a request to collaborate on the production of a one-off, fully working, four-sided record. The project presented a series of challenges.
Drawing on inspiration from experimental records of the late 70’s, as well as the designers ideas on the theme of spirograph patterns, we were able to produce a unique lathe cut record that not only looks cool, but also plays and functions as you would expect it to.
One of the many great things about lathe cut records versus traditional pressed records is that they allow more room for experimentation. We had a lot of fun on this project.
